Autumn, your trunk turned out great. You worked so hard on restoring it to its rightful, original purpose. This is a trait you have for so many details in your life. It was a pleasure to be part of it.
Thanks.

So uncanny about that Pink elephant cake. I almost made it for my birthday. After reading your Blog I am Glad I thought better of it. We can make it as part of our Boxing Day treats. I can hardly wait.
There is a show on the Food Network about cake excesses. The funniest part of it is when they finish their overdone monstrosity and have to transport it and it ends up too big for the van or falls over when someone applies the brakes.

I love those Dr. Who kids. It was hilarious.

I'm a regular cakewreck reader, although I do think I like the Sunday ones best (except for the pink elephants, that might be one of my all time favorites, and I think the next time we're all together we should try to recreate the scene you imagined).

Great music, too.

I did feel impatient with the sibling squabbling. It was very annoying and felt contentious. I expressed my sadness one day and my darling daughters were surprised at the depths of my unhappiness with their behavior. As I recall they assured me that day that they were just kidding around and that they did really love each other, which was at the basis of my sadness. From then on I understood their behavior differently but they also respected my need to have some semblance of respectful civility. BTW actual discriminatory or mean-spirited domination was never tolerated.

I remember this fight, and my sister did have more room! She would skew her measurement devices ;) It's funny now that I have my own two squabblers. Their arguments are not very different than the ones we got involved in. I can't say that I've held to my mom's level of patience but I do try.

This reminded me of my childhood. Car and I certainly had our share of squabbles over the years (funny enough often about music) and I'm sure my mother despaired over us on occasion. But I don't think we ever did (maybe we did and I've forgotten). Picking a fight was just having a conversation that both of us knew wasn't serious. Although I may be speaking for myself and Car could have some long held grudge I don't know about that we'll be bickering over fifty years from now.
